Head’s Up – Or Eyes Front – Warning For Gas Works Park

On Friday, May 4th, from 6p – 8p, a Facebook coalition has declared a ‘No Pants Day: Time Travel Photo Shoot’ to take place at Gas Works Park. While this may, or may not, actually happen (and weather may play a part in that decision,) for those who don’t want to participate – or those who do – here is your five day warning…

CWB To Open New North Lake Union Facility on May 4th & 5th

The new Center for Wooden Boats Workshop & Warehouse, located at 1475 N Northlake Place just west of Gas Works Park, will formally open on Friday, May 4th, from 5:30p – 7p, with an official dedication ceremony. On Saturday, May 5th, the official opening day of boating season, a community open house and tours will take place from 10a – 2p.

Please Participate In Two Upcoming Design Review Meetings

On Monday, April 30th, everyone interested in the future of Fremont – and particularly the Stone Way portion – is strongly encouraged (by both the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce) to attend a Design Review Board Meeting scheduled for 8p at the University Heights Community Center. This will be another follow-up on the proposed 34Stone development, a Skanska mixed-use building currently slated as, in part, the new headquarters for Brooks Sports, and being built to the Living Building Pilot Program standards.

Celebrate May Day with Fremont Arts Council

On Tuesday, May 1st, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will gather to celebrate May Day – and they welcome everyone with a spirit to celebrate to join in the community revelry. Gathering will begin at 5p at Lower Woodland Park (reportedly near the Bocce ball courts) with the weaving of the ribbons on the may pole about 6p and a potluck supper after 6:30p.

Open House for ‘We The People Power’ Festival

What do Creativity, Joy, Democracy and Love all have in common? People Power! ‘We the People Power’ is a festival celebration of creativity, sustainable living, civic engagement and grassroots democracy, with hands-on fun for everyone. Let’s create and play at the Fremont Solstice Celebration at Gas Works Park on June 16, from 1pm – 7pm – and come to the Open House to learn all about it, meet the co-collaborators, have fun and get involved!

Naturopathic Care Shown To Benefit Diabetes Patients

A joint study by Group Health Research Institute and Bastyr University Research Institute has found that type 2 diabetes patients who received naturopathic care (as an adjunct to conventional care) had lower blood-sugar levels, better eating and exercise habits, improved moods, and a stronger sense of control over their condition than did patients receiving only conventional care.

Stone Soup Double (XX) Fest Enters Second Week

Showcasing works written and directed exclusively by women, the Stone Soup Theatre enters the second week of its Double (XX) Play Fest. This week, see a showcase of short plays featuring performances by local actors and actresses – in works by female playwrights and directed by some of Seattle’s talented female stage directors.
