Albert Linden, a Fremont pioneer, passed away. A memorial service will be held Oct 7th at Fremont Baptist Church.

On Labor Day, September 4th, overlooking the ship canal, Albert D. Linden passed away, with his loving and dedicated family by his side.  On Saturday, October 7th at 1:30p, at the Fremont Baptist Church, please join in remembering Linden’s life at a memorial service, to be followed, from 2:30p – 6p, with coffee and pastries at 3502 Fremont Ave N.

Al Linden was born in 1923 and grew up in Fremont, attending B.F. Day Elementary, and helping at the family hardware store.  On September 16th, 1940, at age 17, Linden enlisted in the army and served as a medic, earning the Bronze Star.  Married in 1956, Linden and his wife, Ingegerd, went on to build their life together in Fremont for 52 years, before she preceded him in death.

Involved in his community for many decades, Linden worked on the Fremont Improvement Committee, on launching the Fremont Street Fair, and in selecting the color of orange for the Fremont Bridge.  Linden also ran for mayor of Fremont in our last election, held in 1973.  As a property owner, Linden took personal interest in maintaining and operating his mixed-use building over the decades, at the corner of N 35th St & Fremont Ave N.

Read much more about Al Linden’s life, and the bereaved family he leaves behind in an informative obituary on The Seattle Times Legacy.com webpage.  Memorial donations may be made in honor of Albert D. Linden to the Fremont Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a small child.
