Fremont Library Hosts A Poetry Reading By Three Local, Published Authors

Kirby Lindsay Laney

On Monday, January 8th, from 6:30p – 7:45p, the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library will co-host a free, public poetry reading by three of leading, published poets from around our region.  The quarterly ‘Evening of Poetry’ offers access to original poetry, read by the authors, presented in partnership with co-host Floating Bridge Press.

This month’s readings will be by three established voices in our local poetry scene:

  • Catherine Bull – Holding degrees in poetry and English, Bull lives in Ballard and has had her poetry published in the Bellingham Review, FIELD, Gyroscope Review, Literary Bohemian, The Operating System, and Poetry Northwest, among other journals.
  • Scott Ferry – Working as an RN, helping veterans heal, Ferry has had his poetry featured in Radius Lit, Poetry Superhighway and Pontoon.  Ferry has previously worked as a high school teacher, and practiced acupuncture, and he regularly attempts to be handsome enough for his wife and patient enough for his daughter.
  • Claudia Castro Luna – Born in El Salvador, Castro Luna came to the U.S. in 1981 where she gained an MA in Urban Planning, a teaching certificate, and an MFA in poetry.  Published in Poetry Northwest, La Bloga, City Arts, and the Taos Journal of International Poetry & Art, Castro Luna has served a the first-ever Civic Poet for Seattle from 2015 to 2017.  This month, she begins her term as the Washington State Poet Laureate, with this reading at the Fremont Branch Library and another on Jan 31st at the Central Library.

Do not miss this opportunity to hear original literary art, in the comfort of our community branch library.  For more information, call the Fremont Branch Library 206-684-4084.
