OneSeattle Coalition Unites Small Businesses In Fight For $15 Minimum Wage

A press release came out this past week announcing the new coalition, OneSeattle, and its statement in favor of a $15 minimum wage compensation for Seattle workers.  Members of OneSeattle include the Ballard Chamber of Commerce, Washington Multi Family Housing Association, Nucor Steel Seattle, Korean American Chamber of Commerce WA, Woodland Park Zoo, Arc of King County, Seattle Restaurant Alliance and others.

This coalition united around key principals:

  • Take into account all reportable income – such as commissions, bonuses and tips – and benefits such as health care
  • Create a temporary training wage to preserve opportunities for new entrants in the workforce
  • Build a phase-in period to give employers the ability to adjust and the Legislature an opportunity to increase funding for social services
  • Make it applicable to everyone, no exceptions

The OneSeattle statement pushes for broad prosperity for all.  For more information, visit the OneSeattle website.
