On Saturday, August 2nd, at 3p, the Fremont Fireside Chat series hosts a free, one-hour History Walk – an active, engaging presentation on the Fremont Troll, Troll Avenue and the iconic Fremont Baptist Church building.  Led by Kirby Lindsay of Fremocentrist.com, this short, ADA-accessible stroll starts at Patches Place & Troll Avenue – outside History House of Greater Seattle – for a family-friendly, participatory exploration of an utterly historic portion of the Center of the Universe.

FFCPosterAug14Climbing up to the Troll, hear about the area before the popular sculpture arrived, and the development of the George Washington Memorial Bridge which soars overhead.  After a brief bit of information on the proposed park planned for the area, saunter with the group to Fremont Baptist.  Members of one of Fremont’s oldest organizations will welcome visitors with a brief history, plenty of rarely seen photos, and an extensive tour of this valued resource and intrinsic piece in Fremont history.

Following the free presentation, Fremont Baptist members have also offered to host visitors to a lemonade-and-cookie reception, while area experts will attempt to answer any questions about any part of Fremont’s past, present and even future.  For more on this live, participatory version of Fremocentrist.com, visit the Brown Paper Tickets or Facebook event pages.
