On Wednesday, January 28th, from 7p – 8:30p, at The Barrel Thief, take part in an educational tasting of Mescal, Tequila’s older brother.  It is said, “Para todo mal, Mescal, y para todo bien, tambien.” (For all things bad, Mescal, and for all things good too.)

Mescal is the broader category of distilled agave, with tequila being the most popular version of it.  Mescal is typically smokier, more layered and complex than tequila, and is gaining in popularity – on its own and in cocktails.  Mescal is a wonderful journey for whiskey lovers.

At this tasting, called ‘Mescal Tambien’, enjoy a range of Mescals, including several made from wild Maguey (agave) plants and single Maguey species.  This educational event also includes an introduction to Mescal, an explanation of how it’s made, and samples of Mescals both young and aged, domesticated and wild, smoky and smooth, varietals and blends.  The Barrel Thief also has rare bottles of Mescal produced in small quantities once a year.

Attendance at Mescal Tambien is limited, with advance tickets available for $30 at Brown Paper Tickets.  For more information about this tasting, and other Barrel Thief events, contact Christopher@bthief.com or 206/372-4747.
