This weekend will be a busy one around Fremont, making it important that if you plan to come and go from the Center of the Universe, you will need a plan.

Over the whole weekend, July 3rd – 5th, the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival will draw people to South Lake Union Park from 10a – 6p each day.  On Saturday, July 4th, the Independence Day holiday, the Seafair Family 4th over Lake Union will draw people to Gas Works Park from Noon to 11p.

Events like the Wooden Boat Festival could make travel difficult July 3rd - 5th, 2015.

For those with plans on Friday, July 3rd, who depend upon transit, METRO will be running on a Sunday schedule, and on July 4th, METRO returns to the Saturday schedule.  On Friday night, from approximately 11:45p to 12:45a on Saturday morning, transit service along Dexter Ave for routes 4, 26, and 28 will be rerouted during the Firecracker 5000 Run.  On Saturday, from approximately Noon to Midnight, transit service will be rerouted in the Wallingford area for routes 26 and 32 due to the Seafair Family 4th.

Those who plan to drive, bike or walk (or skate, skateboard, boat, etc.) should further be aware, I-5 ramps will be closed on Saturday evening during the fireworks display over Lake Union, and the I-5 Express Lanes will have extended northbound service into the morning of July 5th.

For more information, use the Washington State Department of Transportation traffic volume charts, the traffic app, or track the traffic Twitter feed.  For more information on transit, visit the METRO Online Regional Trip Planner, and the Service Advisories page for specific route information.
