Fremont Chamber Members Get Shameless

On Wednesday, November 18th, members of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce gathered for the Breakfast of Shameless Self-Promotion, where attendees have a chance to stand up and pitch – their business, themselves or their event.  While dining on a delicious quiche breakfast from Roxy’s Diner (and samples from Pie,) at the Fremont Foundry, attendees heard from a few dozen businesses that make Fremont home.

In order of presentation, the Self-Promoters were:

  • BWR Consulting PLLC – Brent Williams-Ruth provides concierge legal consulting services, including business-to-business and flat fee estate law work.
  • Seattle Voice Institute – offers classes in public speaking, and private coaching
  • Beatha Wellness – doing work with pregnant women, along with offering reflexology and massage for anyone who feels the holiday stress getting to them
  • National MS Society – two representatives spoke on behalf of the non-profit, located on Nickerson.  They will hold the 5K Walk/Run on April 10th in 2016 to raise money for research and support of those fighting Multiple Sclerosis, along with upcoming bike events.
  • Jeffrey Kalvelage State Farm Agency – now open at 315 N 36th St, our new State Farm agent will be holding an open house for his offices during Fremont Festivus, on Saturday, December 5th, from 3p – 5p, with live music.  Please stop by any time to meet him and see the new offices.
  • Hashtag Recreational Cannabis – located on Stone Way, Hashtag was Fremont’s first recreational marijuana shop
  • MarQueen Hotel and The Inn At Queen Anne – available for your holiday events
  • Puget Soundkeeper Alliance – just had their annual fundraiser at Fremont Studios, and they will have another wine and chocolate event on Jan 31st, and they need venues for more member events.  They have lots of volunteer opportunities available for getting people out on our waterways, cleaning up and monitoring
  • Fremont Law Group – Paul Okner provides personalized legal services, with experience in real estate, and works with individuals, businesses and non-profit clients
  • Csz Seattle (Comedy Sportz) – family friendly comedy shows every week in the Atlas Theater, along with a monthly Blue Show (funny, and completely offensive,) and the Green Show (marijuana friendly.)  They can also provide road shows for your event, and team building workshops for companies.

  • Fremont Dock Co – Owner Suzie Burke took her moment to promote the Fremont Chamber, and the benefits to businesses – and the community here.
  • Trident Seafoods – came to learn more about the neighboring businesses
  • Bold Hat Productions – producers of the Fremont Fair and Fremont Oktoberfest, and Hop Scotch (a name change to this Spring Beer Festival is coming soon,) and they are looking for partnerships with area businesses to offer specials to attendees of area events
  • 3rd Line Grind – offering business consulting, they want to be more involved in the area – and the company is working with a group to bring professional hockey back to Seattle
  • Vital Essence Acupuncture – can help clients get their health in line, and in balance, including doing pampering treatments for those looking to de-stress
  • Sunwink Seattle – a steady vendor at the Fremont Sunday Market, the owner is trying to take the company mobile, with an outfitted trailer, but the city won’t currently permit these businesses.  She’s also looking for a place to hold a pop-up sale during this holiday season.
  • Rad Power Bikes – selling electric bikes, including their own line, for those wanting to use alternate transportation.  They are looking for retail space.
  • Transformational Oncology – Dr. Fred Russo is working with cancer patients, with acupuncture, from his new offices at the Naturopathic Family Medicine in Upper Fremont.
  • TeqLaa – providing legal counsel for tech companies, and protecting intellectual rights, along with helping grow tech companies in smart ways
  • Fremont Sunday Market – For 25 years the Market has provided an affordable location for small businesses – and we will be celebrating this feat on Sunday, November 22nd.  Ryan Reiter-Hegeman also mentioned how our Market has launched other markets around town, including farmer’s markets in Ballard and Wallingford.  They also produce area festivals, including the Seattle Street Food Festival and Winter Feast.
  • Fremont Health Club – They’ve opened in a new location, at St. James Tower, where they have parking and offer classes.  They’ve also begun collecting donations for the area food bank and items for the homeless, including emergency backpacks.  Contact Fremont HC to find out about donating items.

  • Pie – They now have a food truck, ready to provide delicious, individual-sized pie for your events, and they do catering for special events.
  • Capital Accountant – Nicole Pastarnack does accounting for the Fremont Chamber, and she can help with your bookkeeping.
  • Hana Design – Charles Coughlan can provide Ikebana arrangements for your home or office, including by delivery.  He also teaches classes at NalandaWest, which have been compared to therapy, except you get to take something beautiful home after.  Fremont Chamber Executive Director Jessica Vets also pointed out that it is a great date night!
  • Moisture Festival – On December 4th, they will be holding their fundraising Treasure Trove Auction, and they have a great, family-friendly NYE Bash on Dec 31st.  They still can accept donations of items for the auction, at Sheryl@moisturefestival.org.  The 2016 Moisture Festival is scheduled for March 17th – April 13th!
  • Fremont Foundry – The event space is available for all sizes of celebrations, workshops and gatherings, and there are still weekends available in 2016 for bookings.  They also do a lot of corporate events, and can do all the planning in addition to providing a venue.
  • Petapoluza Pet Supply & Grooming – Fremont’s supply store for all small animal needs.  They will be holding a Holiday Customer Appreciation Party for everyone in the community, as a part of Festivus, on December 5th from 8p – 9:30p.
  • Roxy’s Diner / Backdoor Cocktail Bar – Owner Peter Glick mentioned their catering service, and that they have an expanding delivery service through nine different services – with several different menus including Meatball Revolution, Salad Station and Fremont Fire Pit BBQ.
  • Lerner Consulting – Lawrence Lerner helps start-ups and entrepreneurs, and provides business consulting.  He also teaches entrepreneurship at the University of Washington.
  • Stride Physio – They provide orthopedic therapy, including proactive, preventative support.  They also will help with navigating your insurance to get you services you need, and deserve, using your existing coverage.
  • Fremont Arts Council – They are now planning for the Feast of the Winter Solstice, as well as starting fundraising and organizing for the 2016 Solstice Parade.  As a 501(c)3 non-profit, donations to the FAC can be written off, and they also appreciate all volunteer time.

  • Rodman Miller – Miller’s glass is on-display on the fence at the Fremont Starbucks, as well as at the Wallingford Boys & Girls Club.  He also has vases and other glass pieces perfect for wedding gifts and unusual, artistic holiday presents.
  • Green Cleaning Seattle / Otium Maid Services – using green techniques, in their work as well as around their offices on Aurora Avenue, they can clean homes and offices.  Their unofficial motto is ‘we’ve seen it all.’
  • Seattle Wellness Group – they like to help with your overall well-being, using chiropractic.  They also are seeing more and more personal injury, and could use partnerships with other providers for their clients.
  • Pot Shop Seattle – they offer a super wide variety of recreational marijuana, including crazy good discounts for Chamber members

After all these brief presentations, attendees did one-on-one networking and enjoyed their door prizes (nearly half of the businesses gave out a door prize, or two.)  Most left having learned more about our area, and having more contacts to build their business upon… or for their personal use.
