The first Fremont First Friday Art Walk of 2016 takes place this Friday, February 5th, from 6p – 9p, with extra reasons and ways to celebrate – and get out of the house and onto Fremont’s sidewalks!

In addition to the wide variety of venues, and artists, on display at every First Friday, this month adds two special events:

  • Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar celebrates its Fifth Birthday this Friday, with art, music and cake!  Come down and celebrate with a ‘think of new dumpling flavors’ contest.
  • Fremont Arts Council hosts an open, public workshop for the upcoming Petit Troll parade (on Sunday, Feb 7th, at 1p through the Fremont Sunday Market) where anyone can build the mini-floats, costumes and tricked-out umbrellas to be used in this short and sweet Mardi Gras celebration.  Other workshops take place Feb 5th (6p – 10p) and Feb 6th (1p – 5p,) all held in the Powerhouse, at 3940 Fremont Ave N.

Stop by these special events while touring among the dependable, monthly First Friday venues of:

  • Portage Bay Goods – Enjoy the colorful, screen-printed goods and congenial creatures of Factory 43, with artists Andrew Saeger and Veronica Velasco.  These made in Seattle, hand-forged graphic goods, including t-shirts, screen-printed posters, and letterpress cards, mix hand-inked drawings, collaged photographs and found textures with quirky subject matter.  Also while at PBG, enjoy refreshments and rad tunes, and the always conversational collection of gifts for sale.  Also, mark your calendar for the Third Thursday In February, when PBG will welcome Lucie Duclos, co-author of the Pacific Northwest Coloring Book for a book signing.
  • Frame-Up Studios – Welcome Seattle-based printmaker William Cook and his hand-carved linoleum block prints, richly colored with oil inks and watercolor washes, and available as numbered editions and as mono-prints.  Cook also creates mixed-media collagraph prints, influenced by his rural Skagit Valley upbringing.  Also, 2016 marks the thirtieth year for Frame Up Studios, and they want to show their commitment to loyal customers with special offers all over the store, throughout the year.

Each month, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk offers art and community in a simple, easy-to-walk and completely free package.  Come out and stroll with us from 6p – 9p through a dozen or more venues.  Find details about where to go and what to see at the February 2016 Art Walk on the First Friday website – or just stroll inside a participating venue this Friday!

See you there!
