The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar will offer another credited class through the North Seattle College. This time, learn ‘The History Of Bourbon: An American Classic’, on Monday, April 17th, in a two hour intensive on the quintessential American whiskey from two local experts.
With its deep roots in Kentucky, Bourbon is now produced and enjoyed all over the U.S. Taste your way through Bourbons from Kentucky, Washington State, and places in-between, while exploring the storied history of this native beverage. Learn how it’s made, and what makes it unique.
‘History Of Bourbon’ instructors Christopher Gronbeck and David LeClaire will share information and answer questions on this often overlooked spirit. Certified sommelier LeClaire created two popular wine clubs, Seattle Uncorked & Portland Uncorked, and served as wine director at Seattle’s prestigious Alexis Hotel for ten years. Gronbeck is owner and manager of The Barrel Thief, and has a 20-year history as an educator with varied writings on wine and spirits to his credit. Passionate about bringing exploration and discovery to his clients at The Barrel Thief, Gronbeck believes eating and drinking bring better understanding of cultures around the world.
Students must be 21+, with valid picture identification, and pay a $20 materials fee at the class – in addition to the registration fee of $39. Students are encouraged to eat before attending the class. Registration is through North Seattle College, although the education takes place in the elegant surroundings of Fremont’s Barrel Thief.
