This Saturday, on April 22nd, at 7:30p, Orchestra Seattle & the Seattle Chamber Singers (OSSCS) will perform at the First Free Methodist Church (near Seattle Pacific University,) a concert that includes Brahms ‘A German Requiem.’  And on May 13th, starting at 6p, the OSSCS will return to Fremont, at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, for a fundraising auction, La Nuit Infinie, to support their musical program.

The April 22nd concert will feature Brahms, and his German Requiem which deals with the fleeting nature of life, the need for solace following loss, the hope of a final attainment of peace and the rewards for struggle.  Brahms composed this piece not as a mass for the dead, but as a comfort and consolation for the living.  The concert will also include the ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ by Mozart and Piano Concerto No. 2 by Chopin.
