The May 5th Fremont First Friday Art Walk will provide visitors with a jolt of inspiration and excitement as this one-night-only opportunity allows everyone to meet working artists and see creativity in action.  Don’t miss out, from 6p – 9p, on this stroll around Fremont and seeing the art on-display.

Be sure to check out:

  • Portage Bay Goods has Brandon Vosika, a self-taught Seattle illustrator and painter, known for his sardonic watercolors and seemingly effortless, wobbly drawing style.  With art revolving around humor, death, nostalgia and what it is to be alive, Vosika’s works fit nicely into Fremont’s gift shop for the thoughtful procrastinator.

  • Frame-Up Studios has extended their show of works by Greg Colligan.  Inspired by Frans Hals and John Singer Sargent, Colligan prefers an alla prima technique – painting wet on wet.  Colligan uses his own photography for capturing his subject matter, creating ultimately emotive female characters set in abstract environments.  See Colligan’s work, surrounded by other original art and prints, in one of the country’s most sought after framing destinations.

After touring the retailers and restaurants of Fremont showing art during the Fremont First Friday (see a list of participating venues on the FFF website,) check out a special May addition to the usual line-up, thanks to the Fremont Arts Council.

At the Doric Lodge #92, from 6p – 9p, the FAC will celebrate the 2017 McKay Grant Artists for the Fremont Solstice Parade.  Join this free party honoring the artists and photographers involved in this year’s performance art installation.  This open reception will give everyone a chance to mix and mingle with the artists and learn more about the creative works planned for the Parade – and where you might want to lend a hand, for a few minutes or a few weeks!
