FAC Has Reasons To Celebrate! Join Them?

On Sunday, August 20th, from 4p – 8p, the Fremont Arts Council will hold a celebratory BBQ to honor the volunteers, participants, donors and advocates of the 2017 Fremont Solstice Parade.  The hosts will provide live music, some beverages, hot dogs and burgers (and vegetarian options,) along with video, photos, a small ceremony and a swag bag of FAC gratitude.  All they ask is for your presence and a side dish, appetizer or dessert to share – and your videos, photos, stories and/or musical instruments.  RSVP, and get the address of the party, at president@fremontartscouncil.org

In addition to celebrating the previous parade, the FAC and its fans have reason to celebrate the coming parade – and the saving of the float bases and materials in storage.  This month, with the help of Seattle City Light, and Seattle City Councilmembers Lisa Herbold and Mike O’Brien, the non-profit organization finally secured permanent storage space.  Located on unused City Light property, the FAC will be able to lease the space and use the storage for years to come.

The FAC also has two public meetings coming up, for those who want to know more about this unique organization, and contribute your energy and enthusiasm:

  • On August 1st, at 7p at The FAC Powerhouse, the first official planning meeting for the upcoming Luminata Lantern Walk will take place.  Please bring your ideas and suggestions, and willingness to participate in this family-friendly Autumnal Equinox celebration around Green Lake.  Luminata will take place on Thursday, September 21st at dusk.  If you have questions about how to get involved, contact luminata@fremontartscouncil.org
  • On August 8th at 7:10p, also at The Powerhouse, the FAC will hold its monthly meeting of the whole – as in, everyone who wants to contribute and participate!  Come learn more about what the FAC is up to, and how your contributions can be incorporated.  Everyone is welcome!

Remember, the FAC likes to support art installations and performance art, and there are small Art Grants available for those who want to contribute to the Luminata celebration on September 21st.  Find out more at luminata@fremontartscouncil.org
