A locally made documentary on The Fremont Troll has been nominated for Best Documentary and Best Cinematography at the Nice International Film Festival

Local filmmaker Michael Falcone’s documentary, ‘The Hall Of Giants:  The Story of Fremont & The Troll’, has been nominated for Best Documentary and Best Cinematography prizes at the Nice International Film Festival in France.  On Monday, May 15th, the film will be shown to audiences and judges, with the prize bestowed on the winning film on May 20th.

‘The Hall Of Giants’ details the creation and enduring legend of the Fremont Troll, our revered public art sculpture built by community effort and ingenuity.  Falcone filmed ‘The Hall Of Giants’ using interviews with local artists and activists involved in its installation, footage shared from area institutions and photos painstakingly unearthed from attics all over the ‘hood, all for just $3,000 in grant funding.  The documentary not only captures a unique grassroots art effort, but it does so with the same fun, friendly attitude Fremont is famous for creating.

Funding the fees of entering ‘The Hall Of Giants’ in Festivals costs.  To find out how you can help send The Fremont Troll story out into the world, to share this incredible achievement with others, visit the filmmaker’s website, AnarkyProductions.com  Falcone plans to attend the festival, which is free and open-to-the-public.  The Nice Festival takes place in the Novotel Nice Arenas from May 13th – 20th.
