Last week, the first Petit Troll workshops took place – building small models, or prototypes, of Fremont Solstice Parade floats – in preparation for the mini-parade scheduled for 1p on Sunday, February 15th at the Fremont Sunday Market.

This Mardi Gras Parade of miniature floats took place, with a great response, and this year promises to be bigger still.  And just like the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) Solstice Parade, participating in the parade is better than standing by and watching!

This week, at the FAC Powerhouse, public workshops will be held for those wishing to build – or find out more – about the Petite Troll.  Workshops will take place:

  • Sat, Feb 7th – Noon to 6p
  • Sun, Feb 8th – Noon to 6p
  • Mon, Tue, Wed, & Thu – 6p – 9p
  • Sat, Feb 14th – T.B.A. (check the FAC Facebook page)

Floats will be smaller than a case of wine (a dozen bottles, not wine boxes.)  They will have no live animals, no guns, no words, no logos and be human powered (pulling is fine) like during the FAC Solstice Parade.

For inspiration, visit the ‘Tit Rex Parade website, or just stop by a workshop and lend a hand – even if you don’t feel able to build a Petite Troll float of your own, there will be extra that will need a pull!
