On Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday, artists Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan will be collecting Fremont memories and mementos as significant research on an art piece they are designing for a new development proposed at Fremont Place North & Evanston Avenue North.  On September 9th & 10th, from 4p – 7p, and on Saturday, September 12th, from 10a – 1p, outside of the Fremont PCC Natural Market, Haddad|Drugan want to hear stories, and see souvenirs, from Fremont residents, employees, employers, fans, friends, and everyone who considers this their home base.

Drugan and Haddad want to create another iconic art work for the commercial/residential building, to be called Cubix Fremont, and to do so they will research what ‘Fremont’ means – and that demands input directly from people who live, work and play here.  The artists will be at the Fremont PCC with representatives from King County 4Culture, to answer questions about public art and art programs.

Cubix Fremont is located between the Lenin statue and the Fremont Rocket, almost the center of Fremont’s creative mix of art, industry, residential, commerce and quirk.  Haddad and Drugan want to design an installation to reflect what it is that draws us here and sparks our imaginations!  With the entire façade of the Cubix Fremont building to use as a possible canvas, and working with its developer, Parkstone Properties, and architect, Jackson|Main, Drugan and Haddad can create a piece as iconic as the neighborhood – but only with our generous help.

Please, visit the Haddad|Drugan booth at PCC on September 9th, from 4p – 7p, September 10th, from 4p – 7p, or September 12th from 10a – 1p, and share your reflections on what it Fremont means – and spread the word about this unique gathering!
