Last Wednesday, November 18th, while waiting for a suitable match for a heart transplant, certified personal trainer at Fremont’s Anytime Fitness, Todd ‘Oly’ Olsen, passed away at age 58.

A former competitive bodybuilder, who won 3rd place in the very first Emerald Cup Contest, Olsen liked to help others find the best ways to gain personal strength and learn healthy methods.  Known best for his 15-year career in professional wrestling, fellow wrestlers and students have been sending testimonials to Olsen’s Facebook page about how much he taught and inspired them.

At Anytime Fitness in Fremont Olsen also spent his time teaching and inspiring.  He also wrote a few columns for Fremocentrist.com, including ones on the benefits of Strength Training in March 2013, Fitness Resolutions in January 2014, and Practical Self-Defense in January 2013.

A heart attack suddenly put Olsen in the hospital this fall.  Open heart surgery and an artificial heart were both attempted to reverse the ultimately fatal conclusion.  Olsen’s friends had set up a GoFundMe site to raise money to cover hospital bills and lost income, for Olsen and his wife Tina.

A celebration of Olsen’s life, for friends and family, will be held on December 6th from 11a – 2p, at the Snohomish Senior Center.  Learn more about Olsen in an obituary on the Slam! Sports site, and more ways this kind man shared his gifts and his life with so many fortunate people.
