Opening Friday, July 22nd, the New Amerikan Theatre will present the West Coast Premiere of playwright August Schulenberg’s Riding The Bull. Performances will be held through August 13th, on Friday and Saturday nights, at the UpStage of Stone Soup Theater (4035 Stone Way N.)
Riding The Bull, a darkly funny, disturbing tale directed by Richard Buckley, concerns love, faith, prophetic sex, and Elvis – and contains something to most likely offend everyone! Sweetly compelling, as much as disturbing & offensive, this Texas tale finds a fat rancher (Jen Smith Anderson) and a skinny rodeo clown (Geb Brown) on a spiritual journey of epic proportions as they ride the “bull” of luck, love and reversal of fortune.
This will be the second original work produced by New Amerikan Theatre (following last fall’s Stings Like Acid) a female-run company founded in 2008. New Amerikan Theatre seeks to create and inspire audiences with quality theatre that examines, with epic scope, the power of the human experience.
Tickets for Riding the Bull cost $15 for general admission, and $12 for TPS members, and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets. More information can be found at the New Amerikan Theatre website, or by e-mail.
Ride the bull – the power of Elvis compels you!
