The Fremont Arts Council is currently recruiting members for its vital Green Hat Ensemble – a 30+ squad of magically costumed, philanthropic volunteers who inspire and solicit Solstice audience members to give generously to funding the Fremont Solstice Parade.
The grassroots, volunteer-powered FAC Parade celebration is funded by donations from private citizens and local businesses. Without these donations, the Fremont Arts Council cannot bring this free, public performance, created almost entirely with reused materials and sweat equity. The Green Hat is a significant mode of the fundraising done for this legendary entertainment effort.
Dance through the Fremont Solstice Parade, helping push the giant Green Hat float down the street or passing a small Green Hat on a crazy long pole through the massive crowds assembled. For this, the 30th Annual Fremont Solstice Parade the Green Hat ensemble has chosen the theme, ‘Party Like It’s 1989!’ Dress up in your favorite 80s or 90s gear, or whatever costume makes you feel most celebratory!
According to FAC volunteers, being part of the Green Hats is the most fun you could have in a day! Join the Kick-Off Workshop (and Costume Closet Raid) on Thursday, June 7th, from 7p – 10p, at the FAC Powerhouse Art Studio. Get all the information you need, and swap stories and ideas with other Parade fans about how we all can help the Fremont Solstice celebration survive.
Register for the Green Hat ensemble at the Workshop on June 7th, or on-line through the FAC volunteer site page. All other Fremont Solstice Parade Volunteers can attend additional Orientation meetings on either 10a – 11p on June 9th, or 7p – 8p on June 14th.
