The last week in June, the Rotary Club of Fremont (a.k.a. the Fremont Fun Club,) celebrates the transition of its officers, as those who served in the past year are thanked and those stepping in to serve in the coming year are welcomed! Exiting President Zoe Mote has done a superb job, as the Fremont Rotary finished their year enjoying great success at the Fremont Street Fair.
During the Fremont Fair, the Fremont Rotary set up two bouncy toys, to the absolute delight of over 400 kids, and their parents. The first girl to take a tumble told Rotary volunteers that she’d been waiting since last year to return! Charging a nominal fee, with the money going to fund literacy programs locally and internationally, the Rotarians welcomed children anxious to play while their adults listened to live music being played on the nearby stage.
Another fundraiser conducted by the Fremont Rotary, on behalf of the B.F. Day School Playground Improvement project, was a naming contest for the Dinosaur Topiaries, which the Club keeps trimmed and neat as part of their quarterly Burke-Gilman Trail clean-up.
And the official names are: Dino & Dora!!
As the Rotary Club of Fremont steps into a new year, under President John Booker, they have room for new members. The members are business owners or managers with a strong interest in ‘Service Above Self’, and joining other area business owners in projects that help our community. The Fremont Rotary meets weekly at Hale’s Ales Brewery, at 5:30p, for a meal and a meeting – with the second meeting of every month (next on July 10th) given over to building sandwiches for the homeless. Visit the website (click here,) or the Facebook page, for more information.
For those anxious for another chance at the bouncy house, the Fremont Rotary will return for the Fremont Oktoberfest, on September 21st – 23rd, thanks to their generous sponsors: University Audi, the Fremont HomeStreet Bank branch, Fremont Dock Company, Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and Bold Hat Productions.
