The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU,) is inviting artists to submit images of original two-dimensional artworks or wall-hanging sculptures for a competitive purchase.  The art selected will be added to the SPU Civic Art Collection.

The City of Seattle owns over 3,000 pieces of art in its Civic Art Collection alone.  This collection began over 40 years ago, and pieces are displayed throughout galleries and offices managed by the City.  The maximum measurements for these pieces is 48” x 48” x 5”, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds.  As the artworks will be part of a rotating collection, the objects will need to be moved by just one person.

This call for art is open to professional artists who reside in the Pacific Northwest, and has a budget range from $500 – $5,000 per selected art work.  Artists are encouraged to submit colorful artworks.

The deadline for applying for this competitive selection is 11p on Tuesday, July 24th.  Find out more details, and fill out the application, on-line through the CaFE website (click here.)  For answers to specific questions about this call for art, please contact Blake Haygood, Public Art Curator, at 206-684-1742 or blake.haygood@seattle.gov
