FamilyWorks Food Bank Seeks Assistance Of All Kinds

Help our food bank recover funds for advocates.
Help our food bank recover funds for advocates.

The FamilyWorks Food Bank which feeds and provides assistance to many Fremont residents, through the Wallingford center and the Greenwood Food Bank, recently got news about funding.

The City of Seattle Human Services Department has awarded FamilyWorks with a grant to fund the family activities including parenting classes, playgroups and community building.  Unfortunately, the non-profit did not receive funding for the Family Advocacy (Systems Navigation) program.  This includes the bi-lingual advocates working with marginalized and immigrant families to access programs and resources that will get them self-sufficiency.

FamilyWorks wants to still raise the $100,000 to maintain this program in 2019.  If you have any ideas, or any awareness of resources where FamilyWorks could appeal for funding, please contact them.  If you want to help with volunteer time, or get on the e-mail list to find out about fundraisers for the Food Bank, please visit the FamilyWorks website.

One immediate fundraiser, Games For Good, is coming on Monday, August 27th, from 5:30p – 7:30p at Lagunitas Brewing in Ballard.  This family friendly, community event includes Pablo y Pablo tacos, plus games, food, and karaoke.  All beer sales benefit FamilyWorks!  Pay the cover price, $10, in advance, on-line, and receive a raffle ticket – to further support families in need, and our food bank!
