This Saturday, January 5th, at 9a, a group of community volunteers, the Fremont Garbage Collective, will meet in front of Ounce of Prevention, at 404 N 36th, to spread out around the neighborhood collecting trash.
The Fremont Garbage Collective wears blue, and carry their own bags and use their own gloves. These volunteers spend about an hour picking up garbage and recycling for an hour and a half, or so. Some focus on collecting the cigarette butts, and others on cans or bottles. Volunteers have tried to stand up the Lime bicycles scattered around the neighborhood, or spend their collecting time seeking interesting items.
All collected trash can be deposited in the dumpster at Ounce of Prevention after the Collective finishes – and then volunteers often gather at Fremont Coffee to swap war stories, and do show-and-tell of treasures found on the street.
Consider joining this community effort to clean-up our streets, and help spread the word about this gathering, and grabbing of trash. Thank you!!
