On Thursday, February 7th, at 6:30p, local garden and food writer Tara Austen Weaver will be at The Book Larder for the book launch of her latest title, ‘Growing Berries and Fruit Trees in the Pacific Northwest.’

For those ready to start planning their summer garden, come learn why fruit is the easiest, most rewarding thing you can grow – particularly in the Pacific Northwest.  Learn about selecting, planting, and preserving fruit from your backyard, or p-patch.

Weaver’s beautiful guide also includes nearly a dozen master recipes with variations for preserving a bountiful harvest.  It’s a complete guide to backyard fruit growing, with information specific to the climate and varieties of the Pacific Northwest, both east and west of the Cascades.  The book also includes sidebars showcasing historical orchards, fruit enthusiast societies, gleaning organizations, and more.

On February 7th, Weaver will be at Book Larder to share her knowledge, much based on growing her own prolific garden.  She can answer questions on attendees own fruit trees and bushes.  Please note, however, the author will only be able to sign copies of ‘Growing Berries and Fruit Trees in the Pacific Northwest’ purchased at Book Larder.

Find out more about this gathering, and the book, on the Book Larder website (click here,) as well as information on how to obtain the book even if it is not possible for you to attend the Author’s book launch.
