The Fremont First Friday Art Walk welcomes everyone to explore the art and meet the artists, for free!

On Friday, May 3rd, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont Art Walk offers ample opportunities to explore art and culture throughout the Center of the Universe.  Stroll the selection of venues showing original art, for free, and get a feast of Fremont’s colorful culture and creative artists.

The Fremont First Friday Art Walk has a map of participating venues on-line (click here,) but be sure to check out:

  • Esters Enoteca – Enjoy eco-friendly art by emerging artist Simon Porter.  Using recycled card board, Porter creates imaginary landscapes that draw in the viewer and invites them along.  The collection of cardboard cut-art pieces re-use materials to realize a three-dimensional image of an alternative world.
  • Portage Bay Goods – See star showers as local artist Elizabeth Person brings here beautiful, celestial watercolors to the shop, along with unique PNW map illustrations.  Check out ‘The Night Sky’ and meet the artist responsible for these cosmic paintings, along with exploring the offerings of PBG, the procrastinator’s gift shop.

  • Frame-Up StudiosMimi Williams, an Olympia-based artist, brings her magnificent, original prints to the retail shop.  These hand-printed images have a unique narrative, with a sense of humor that connects the viewer to the pieces.  Linoleum cut block prints, with collage, Williams uses the back of a wooden spoon to imprint the image.  In May, see these entirely original and creative works of art.
  • Down Under Gallery – The new gallery (beneath Wish Fremont Boutique) is featuring a new painter, Eric Esteb, and his show ‘Dualities.’  An aerialist, actor, chandler, filmmaker and one-half of Duo Rêves, Esteb found inspiration to paint when he recently relocated to rural Washington.  Making use of the painting techniques of the Old Masters, alongside state-of-the-art technologies, Esteb has created paintings exploring the eternal dualities of good and evil, nature and artifice, new and old, etc.  Meet the artist, and his aerial partner, Down Under on May 3rd, or stop by and see the show through May and June.

Stroll the Fremont First Friday Art Walk for a few minutes, or for the whole evening, and re-acquaint yourself with the art and art venues of the Center of the Universe.  This free, family-friendly art show provides a cultural exploration worth visiting.
