On Saturday, June 22nd at 1p, the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade will roll its active and creative art down the streets of the Center of the Universe, led by the Solstice Cyclists and other body-painted bike riders.
The greatest way to ‘see’ the Solstice Parade is, always, participation – and it is amazingly easy to get involved. Workshops are going on at the FAC Powerhouse this week, and anyone, of any age and any skill level, can volunteer. Stop by The Powerhouse:
- Wed, June 19th – 4p to 9p
- Thu, June 20th – 4p to 9p
- Fri, June 21st – 1p to 10p
Volunteers can also show up at the Solstice Parade check-in desk starting at 8a at 3604 Leary Way NW, or the Gas Works Park Celebration check-in. Help will also be needed at The Powerhouse, for a Clean-Up Party, on Saturday, June 29th from Noon to 4p.
For those unable or uninterested in being in the Fremont Solstice Parade, especially those older fans or less mobile ones, the Fremont Arts Council offers VIP Seating. VIP Seating means no need to show up hours early to save a spot, or to sit in the sun (or the rain). VIP Seating is under cover, and near an MC giving info on the ensembles.
Best of all, VIP Seating directly funds the artists and the artistic content of the Solstice Parade. All proceeds from VIP sales goes 100% to the FAC.
A limited number of seats remain. The packages offered for 2019 include:
- Stone Way Stage ($350) – seats for four, for a whole family or good friends, and get lunch as well
- Center of the Universe ($150) – at the prime location, and includes paella, a beverage, and a nearby bathroom
- Stone Way Stage ($100) – easy to access site, and includes a lunch
All VIP Seating packages also include a gift bag token of appreciation. Register as soon as possible (click here,) before this opportunity ends.
