On Saturday morning, July 20th, join Kris Kringle and a few thousand of his closest friends at Gas Works Park for the Christmas In July 5K & 10K run/walk and Kids Dash. This unique holiday-themed event, in the middle of summer, has something for everyone.
The Christmas In July run and walk has two-timed courses, on flat routes, that begin and end at Gas Works. The races also will give finishers of the 5K and the 10K a medal, as an early Christmas present. Entry also includes a fabulous, custom-designed Christmas in July t-shirt and specially designed bib number.
For the kids – those 12 and under can take part in a FREE Little Reindeer Dash, with each child earning a custom-printed Little Reindeer Run bib number and a ribbon at the finish line. In addition, what would be a Christmas party without the ubiquitous Santa sighting? Kris will make the trip ‘down south’ to hang out with the kids, of all ages, and allow for pictures throughout the morning. Two additional photo walls will be set up for selfies and group shots.
For those 21+, the Holiday Spirit Garden will be serving beverages to make all the adults more merry. Find beer, wine and mimosas – but only to those with funds and identification. The Holiday Spirit Garden will also feature a DJ, spinning fantastic tunes all morning long for a Christmas groove.
There will also be non-alcoholic beverages available, for those of all ages. Plus, food and drink samples, swag, random prizes and more stuff from vendors and sponsors.
Best of all, it’s Christmas, so get dressed up in your Ugly Christmas Summer Sweater, Santa suit or other Christmas costume or regalia, and possibly win a Costume Contest prize. Wear whatever gets you into the Spirit of the (Christmas In July) Season
Registration opens, in Gas Works Park, at 7:30a on July 20th. The 5K and the 10K run and walks take off at 9a, with one Little Reindeer Dash before at 8:45a and another after at 10:30a. Stick around though, in the Holiday Spirit Garden or in the green and sun of the Park, for the Awards ceremony, and costume contest, at 10:45a.
