The October 7th Fremont First Friday Art Walk, from 6p – 9p, features many fabulous artists – including a few Fremonsters!
The offices of Johnston Architects PLLC, on the edges of the Center of the Universe at 100 N.E. Northlake Way Suite 200, will show paintings by Craig van den Bosch. van den Bosch may be familiar to Fremocentrist.com readers from his work as Art Curator and Artist-In-Residence at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center. About his paintings he has stated, “Playing off the philosopher Walter Benjamin’s ‘dialectical image,’ my work addresses the dynamics of biology vs. technology and asks whether there will be a harmony between the two as the gap closes.”
On the 3rd Floor of the SPACE Building (600 N 36th,) at Renaun Design, the paintings of Mary Kay Nespeca will be on display. A transplant to Fremont from New York (26 years ago,) Nespeca has worked in figure drawing, figure painting, figure sculpture, printmaking, letterpress, and photography – before arriving at these encaustic paintings.
At Frame-Up Studios, the photos of Ellen Martorelli show why her images have found such acclaim in publications and public information displays. Yet, Martorelli first started her series in 1992, photographing eyes at the Fremont Sunday Market.
In addition to these artists, the First Friday Art Walk also offers Fremonsters a chance to experience the works of others from Seattle, and around the world.
