This weekend offers a variety of live theater – ballet, British Panto and heart-warming family drama – ideal for families, and/or those who enjoy interactive, holiday-flavored entertainment.
‘Steadfast Tin Soldier’
This weekend only, a short drive north to the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center, will offer a story ballet performed by students from Dance Fremont.
This annual holiday performance of the Hanz Christian Andersen tale ‘The Steadfast Tin Solider’ is ideal for families, dance fans and those seeking romantic and engaging entertainment. Tickets cost only $15, and can be purchased at the ticket window. Performances will be at 2p and 7:30p on Saturday, December 10th and 2p on Sunday, December 11th.
‘A Child’s Christmas In Wales’
Opening December 8th for a run leading right up to Christmas is the traditional Stone Soup production of ‘A Child’s Christmas In Wales,’ based on the story by Dylan Thomas.
This new production, directed by Arlene Martinez-Vickers, recreates the nostalgic magic of a childhood Christmas when everything was brighter, better and more alive – to entertain kids and adults alike. Tickets cost $18 and can be purchased at the door or through Brown Paper Tickets, which provides a complete list of times and dates of evening and matinee shows going on through December 24th.
A British Panto production of ‘Peter Pan’
Starting this weekend, and running Saturdays & Sundays until January 15th (with a long break for Christmas and New Year’s,) will be another British Panto production by Fremonster Theatrical – with plenty of slapstick for the kiddies, and jokes to make the adults guffaw. This year the amateur theater troupe has taken on the story of Peter Pan, with Wendy, Lost Boys, Captain Hook and a tap-dancing crocodile! Also includes, as always, original songs performed by the Fremont Philharmonic. Performed at Hale’s Palladium, ‘Peter Pan’ will go on at 4:30p & 7:30p on Saturdays, and 1p & 4p on Sundays, with tickets available through Brown Paper Tickets for $6 – $12 – and already starting to sell out…
Step Inside ‘A Pale & Lovely Place’
For the adults – and the mature-minded – don’t forget that this is the last weekend to see the award-winning ‘A Pale & Lovely Place,’ written by and starring Kevin Joyce at West of Lenin. This remount of the cult-hit musical monologue will leave some scratching their heads as they exit the theater, entertained even if a trifle confounded. Tickets can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets for $19-$21, or at the theater doors for $25.
Wherever this weekend takes you, consider including some live theater in it – and enjoy!
