On Saturday, February 4th, at 2p, attend a celebration of a life, and a memoir of growing up on Green Lake, at History House. The charming collection of stories, ‘Pork Neckbones, Sauerkraut & Rutabagas’ by Dorothea Nordstrand, will be officially launched at this celebration of her life.
The humorous and heartwarming collection culminates 25-years of writing down the stories of her family – from the homestead in Pend Oreille County to the shores of Green Lake. Nordstrand began writing at the age of 70, and only stopped when she passed away last year at the age of 96.
Revealing a spirit uncommonly adventurous for a woman of her era, Nordstrand also relates the experiences of her parents, siblings, spouse, children and friends, with love and respect. The book, published by HistoryLink, captures a century and life growing up in a Seattle few now recall.
Hear passages from the collection of stories, meet the author’s family, enjoy light refreshments, and get answers to the question – “Pork what?” The event is free to attend, and copies of ‘Pork Neckbones, Sauerkraut & Rutabagas’ will be available for purchase for only $14.95
