On Saturday, August 20th, starting at 7:00p, Ignite Seattle 15 invites audience members to fill the Outdoor Cinema lot  (bring your chair!) for a series of five-minute talks meant to enlighten, educate and entertain.  Ignite Seattle has most often taken place at King Cat Theater, but on what will hopefully be a pleasant night for sitting out on the blacktop, the all-volunteer organized event hopes to attract first-timers, families and Fremonsters to hear – and see – what this world-wide phenomena has to offer.

A team of reviewers selected the following speakers for IS15:

  • Jason Quick, ‘The Juggling Act of Life’
  • Bennett Haselton, ‘Circumventing Internet Censorship Around The World’
  • Amber Straub, ‘Unparenting- Tips From A Geeky Mom’
  • Molly Nixon, ‘mousonomics’
  • Bryan Zug, ‘How To Be A Christian Without Being A Dick’
  • Glenn Fleishman, ‘Letterpress Revival’
  • Beverly Sobelman, ‘How To Run Away And Join The Circus’
  • Shawn Murphy, ‘Naked Safety, Or How To Secure A Parade With Simple Psychology’
  • Gwen Rowe, ‘Hacking Parents And Other Authority Figures’
  • Pascal Schuback, ‘Tech; Disasters and YOU! (Geek Approved Road Trip!)’
  • Catherine Carr, ‘You Are Not Your SAT Score:  A Crash Course In Multiple Intelligence Theory’
  • Amanda Shumack, ‘What Is All The Hoopla?’
  • Jen Matson, ‘Field Guide To Record Collectors’
  • Deepak Singh, ‘#arseniclife’
  • Scott Berkun, ‘Teaching Seattle How To Drive’

The talks come accompanied by projected slide images that automatically change every 15 seconds.  With swift pacing, varied topics and engaging speakers, the evening promises to live up to the tagline – ‘Enlighten Us, But Make It Quick.’  Tickets, sold at the gates, cost $5, and the gathering will start at 8p.

A side note:  No Outdoor Movie will be shown August 20th to allow space to bring this innovative activity in Fremont.  Come find out what it’s all about!
