This Sunday, August 21st, from 2:30 – 4:30p, ukulele players can gather for the monthly Uke Jam at Dusty Strings (3406 Fremont Ave N,) hosted by Sunga Rose.
An accomplished singer, ukulele-strummer, band leaders and ukulele teacher, Rose plays regularly in Seattle with her vintage jazz band, Miss Rose & Her Rhythm Percolators, as well as two duos, the Honeyville Rascals and the Laughing Rose Duo. She has been playing uke for five years and teaching for the past three, especially enjoying working with beginning players.
The Dusty Strings Uke Jam includes a variety of musical genres including vintage jazz, old-time, folk, and Hawaiian. The group will stick to simple tunes that everyone can join in on, and singing is encouraged. Playing music together is fun, and playing the ukulele is the most fun of all.
Before the jam, Rose will host a “Strum Fun” workshop. Jam participants are asked to pay a $5 suggested donation, for the jam leader.
Also, check out the UkeBash, one-day-only, at Dusty Strings on September 18th.
