The 2011 Fremont Outdoor Movies season closes, on Saturday, August 27th, with a crowd pleasing favorite – ‘The Big Lebowski’ – and a challenge issued to raise funds to aid Africa through Lumana.
The 1998 Coen brothers cult-comedy, ‘The Big Lebowski,’ features John Goodman and Jeff Bridges in one of the most quotable, least narrative, and entirely Coen-esque buddy movies of all time. Most likely, you either already know too much about this one – and need to see it one more time – or haven’t seen and just must!
Unlike the usual Saturday nights out on the blacktop, this fundraising screening with be ages 21 and up, with a ticket price of $12. The party includes a beer garden and a White Russian bar, with 100% of the sales going to Lumana.
Lumana works to alleviate poverty in rural communities through education and entrepreneurship in Africa. They run programs of microfinance and business management education, and encourage community building, and leadership, in villages throughout the continent. For more information on their great work, check the website.
So, come out and help raise funds – and toast The Dude – at the Outdoor Cinema for the last time in 2011. Gates will open at 7p, with the featured food trucks Where Ya At Matt and Charlie’s Buns N’ Stuff. The movie will start at dusk.
