Registration Now Open for Fremont Fun Run!

The Fremont Fun Run has earned its name...and on June 8th, anyone can run. Register today! Photo by K. Lindsay, Jun '11

On Friday night, June 8th, the Fremont Fun Run takes over Solstice Plaza – and now is time to register to run, either alone or in a team!

As always, the Fremont 5K offers a USATF certified course for those who want to compete – or just place – as part of a rare evening race.  For groups of five, consider signing up for the Briefcase Relay, and run either instead of, or in addition to, the 5K.

The first 900 people to register for the 7p 5K run/walk receive a special Brooks technical fabric shirt, and can take advantage of the early registration discount.  Participants pay only $30 before June 7th ($40 day of the race.)  Strollers and leashed dogs can run along in this event.

Before the 5K, at 6p, teams of five can compete in the Briefcase Relay, where each participant runs a 1K section of the course.  Team members hand off a briefcase (teams provide their own) containing five cans of food (to be donated to FamilyWorks after the race,) while dressed in business attire from the waist up and running attire from the waist down.

This year, relay fees have gone down, to $100 per team!  Team members can also run in the 5K, at 7p, for an additional $10 each.

Briefcase Relay team members will all receive a cotton Fun Run t-shirt, and one free beer at the Fremont Brewing Beer Garden.  Team members who also register to run the 5K, as one of the first 900, also receive a Brooks tech shirt.

Everyone who attends the always outrageous Fremont Fun Run – to run, to watch or just to hang out at the Fremont Brewing Beer Garden after strolling dozens of vendor tents – should consider biking to Solstice Plaza that night.  Spoke & Food will, once again, sponsor a secure on-site bicycle valet.  After all, the Fun Run start and finish – for both races – take place on North 34th Street in front of the J.P. Patches Statue – one half block from the Burke Gilman Trail.

Register today, to qualify for a Brooks shirt – and to be ready to run on June 8th!  See you there!
