Music In The Sculpture Garden Continues To Play

Seattle musician Michael Guthrie takes the stage at History House on July 8th Photo provided by MITSG

This Sunday, July 8th, from 2p – 4p, the Music In The Sculpture Garden concert series continues – after taking last week off – with a summer highlight performance.  Michael Guthrie will return to the stage at History House inside the covered courtyard (which means it can be wet or dry, hot or cold, outside – but the concerts remain a lovely oasis) along with Carolan’s Corner.

Guthrie helped launch the Music In the Sculpture Garden series, now in its eighth year, and has returned to perform nearly every year to the delight of audiences.  With an eclectic mix of folk, blues and jazz, and lyrics that comment on everything from U.S. foreign policy to inter-personal relationships, Guthrie’s passion shines through with every song.

Carolan’s Corner consists of Lynn Graves on violin, Bob Morgan on guitar, Mary Grider on hammered dulcimer, and Phyllis Baker on concertina and whistle.  Inspired by Turlough Carolan, a blind, early Irish harper, Carolan’s Corner plays mostly instrumental tunes.  They play works composed by Carolan, as well as their own, original compositions inspired by Carolan and Gaelic harping.

The Music In The Sculpture Garden concert series, a John Nordstrand Production, continues every Sunday through July.  These concerts are free to the public, although donations & tips are accepted.  The series comes in part due to a community grant by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and the generous donations of many Fremont businesses and organizations.
