Expect Traffic – Of The Vehicular, Pedestrian & Maritime Kinds – At Green Lake This Weekend

This week, August 23rd – 26th, the 2012 USA Canoe Kayak Sprint National Championships will be held in the Small Craft Center at Green Lake, at the southwest ‘corner’ of the park.

Hosted by the Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation and the Seattle Canoe & Kayak Club, this high visibility international sports event is expected to draw daily print, television and on-line media coverage as well as racing spectators from all over the Pacific Northwest and across the U.S.

The competition will close parking lots at the south end of Green Lake, and is likely to tie up traffic in that area.  With regatta staging, mobile food vendors and vendor tents plus team tents, the area is likely to be jumping and lively!  In addition, in Lower Woodland on Saturday, August 25th, the Goddess Festival is likely to draw in a small crowd.

Plan your trips accordingly – and stop by to see what all the excitement is about.  For more information on the championships, visit the Small Craft office at 5900 W. Green Lake Way N.
