Last year, volunteers worked together to develop a design for improvements to the playground at B.F. Day Elementary School. This year, more volunteers are needed to help raise the money to realize the improvements.
On Tuesday, November 27th, from 4p – 8p, the Rotary Club of Fremont will wait and bus tables at Pecado Bueno for everyone that comes to buy great food, enjoy fun entertainment, and/or show their support for our school, our kids and improving our community!
A minimum donation of $15 per person (or $7 for those 12 and under) gives access to the Taco Bar (beverages not included,) with face painting for kids of all ages, prize drawings, and live music by Al Reiter from 6p – 8p. Checks can be made payable to B.F. Day PTSA, a 501(c)3 non-profit.
The donations from this event will be added to $5,000 from the PTSA, $5,000 from the Fremont Neighborhood Council, and $3,000 from the Fremont Rotary Gym-A-Thon.
Also, in November, the B.F. Day Playground committee received notice of a $15,000 donation from the Norcliffe Foundation. The project has also been recommended for two large matching grants, from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (for $100,000) and the King County Youth Sports Facilities (for $50,000.)
Even so, the project needs to raise $60,000 – $70,000 by the end of January 2013. In addition to the Fremont Rotary Taco Bar at Pecado Bueno on Nov 27th, there are two other fundraising efforts. In December, collect and donate small change to the Pennies for the Playground campaign. From now through Jan 2013, make a donation to the project, and get a legacy brick. Find more details on the website or Facebook page.
Beyond fundraising, volunteers are still needed to help achieve the improvements for our playground at B.F. Day Elementary School. Fundraising will continue through February 2013, with phase one construction expected to be done in summer 2013.
