Special, Spectacular Sights at A Seasonal First Friday Art Walk

On Friday, December 7th, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk has plenty to see and do – as usual – plus several special, seasonal sights for those looking for some holiday cheer!

First of all, what says ‘holidays’ more than the annual kick-off of the December FFF than the Fremont Chamber Lenin Lighting & Fremont Festivus celebration, taking place at 5p at Red Triangle.  Enjoy live music by the Fremont Philharmonic, treats from Peet’s and Pie, and activities from the folks at evo!

Then, stride out to visit a variety of venue, including three special arts & crafts bazaars:

  • The Holiday Bazaar at the Saturn Building (3417 Evanston Ave N) features 20+ artists, crafters and do-dad makers all gathered together for one night only!  Come explore four floors of affordable gifts for holiday gift-giving opportunities!  Vendors include Twozdai A. Hulse, Ashley Sacco, Autumn Tranquilino, Maxx Follis, Nathan Brend, Laurie Zak-Richardson, Jeni Falldine, Aaron Barr,  Megan Yee & Brianna Walker, BrynnAlexis, Circle of Healing Essential Oils, Sharon McCord, Mary Marshall, Dakara Kies, Kate Wansley, Missy Milne, Dreama Blankenbeckler, Christina Pezzner, Rhonda’s Chai, Emily, JMccormick Designs, Francine Moo-Young, Sean McFadyen, Andrew Miller, Dave Bloomfield, Mariel Schachtel, Infinite Confections, and Lori Mitchell
Portage Bay Goods will feature the works of Kitten Chops during its December 2012 art show
  • The 2nd Annual Local Art Bazaar at Pel’meni Dumpling Tzar will host all its artists that displayed over 2012, plus a few new surprises.  They will have, for sale, paintings, ceramics, handmade dolls, mandalas, photos, and more, all reasonably priced.  Also, enjoy hot chocolate and/or cider (plus a few adult beverages) for after freezing your toes at the Lenin Lighting celebration.
  • And Seattle Glass Monuments (4365 – 6th Ave NW) has a special show of locally crafted items including recycled jewelry by Michael Baehr, Luma fused glass by Michelle Fokos, felt bags by Lisa Hagerman, dimensional framed drawings by Phil Keane, wood sculpture & photography by Matthew Kuhour, bee portrait photography by John Lozano, seed jewelry by Zena McCoy, glass mosaics by Victoria McKenzie, and lampwork pendants by Rebecca Pool
The Fremont studio of 'The Oatmeal', showing original works like this one, will be open for visitors during the December 2012 FFF Art Walk

In addition, the FFF also offers its great collection of art on display at a variety of venues including:

  • The Oatmeal (707 N 35th St, #B) – web cartoonist and New York Times bestselling author Matthew Inman (a.k.a. The Oatmeal) opens his studio for visitors!
  • Balance Studio (418 N 35th St) – multimedia artist Kevin Engle shows works in watercolor, acrylic, metal, paper, fiberglass, and wood, along with photography by Mark Banaag, influenced by nature, city life and urban culture

  • Mizika Health & Harmony (3609 – 1st Ave NW) – mixed-media artist Amber Scoon showing a series of new works called ‘Skin’
Composite photo works by Tina Carter, like this one, will be on display at Intuitive Bodyworks in the Fremont Village Building in December 2012.
