Now open, Wednesdays – Sundays, is ‘The Augustus,’ a new place for 30-somethings to gather, with a classic bar and a sausage menu.
Operated by Robb Sheldon and Sarah Wheaton, The Augustus provides Fremonsters with a comfortable bar and restaurant setting. They’ve created a dimly lit ‘train car’ space for the bar, with a ‘living room’ area in back of sofas & games, plus an outdoor patio area. The Augustus is run in partnership with the owners of Hunger, Brian and Jamie Brooks.
The Augustus occupies a portion of the space previously operated as ‘The Rogue & The Peasant.’ As bartender, Sheldon will focus on bourbon, fresh squeezed juices, a solid tap/bottle beer selection, new and old world wines, and classic drinks like the Manhattan Sazarac, Martini, Old-Fashioned, Gimlet, Sidecar, etc.
The menu, created by Jamie and Brian Brooks, offers a fun selection of sausages meant to taste like a specific food – The Kalbi (stuffed with teriyaki, sesame and garnished with cilantro, cabbage, and sriracha mayo;) the Bacon Chesseburger (stuffed with beef, gouda and bacon, topped with lettuce and house sauce;) and The Roper (stuffed with brisket and pork belly, topped with a spicy mustard slaw.)
The Augustus is currently open from 5p – close, Wednesday through Saturday, and from 1p – 9p on Sundays. They offer two Happy Hours nightly, from 5p – 7p, and from 10p – 11p. Learn more about the restaurant on its Facebook page, or simply stop by soon!
