For those looking to grow your own fresh, healthy food, this weekend is Seattle Tilth’s annual Edible Plant Sale, from 9a – 3p on May 4th & 5th at Meridian Park (4649 Sunnyside Ave N.) Stock up on plants and supplies to make it easy to grow your own organic vegetable garden.
This sale will feature over 50,000 organically or sustainably grown plants specifically adapted to thrive in the Pacific Northwest climate. These include:
- Over 350 plant varieties, including rare and heirloom varieties
- Tomatoes, basil, peppers and cucumbers
- Plants for beginning gardeners such as colorful lettuces, Asian greens, kale, chives, arugula, strawberries, culinary herbs and edible flowers
- Exotic flowers and uniquely colorful vegetables such as Purple Peacock broccoli, sweet chocolate pepper, bulbing fennel, Thai basil, lemon cucumbers, tarragon, and striped tomatoes
In addition to the items for sale, Seattle Tilth garden educators, information sheets and educational signs will help visitors select the best plants for your specific garden. Demonstrations and presentations will also be held, and a list of the veggie plants, fruit trees and shrubs and seeds available at the sale can be found on the Seattle Tilth website.
Get the first pick of the plants during the Early Bird Sale, and help raise extra funds for Seattle Tilth.
