Tomorrow, Friday, June 7th, the Fremont Fun Run & Briefcase Relay will race down N 34th St, starting near Fremont Ave N.

At 6p, 70+ costumed teams of five runners will race 1K legs of the course, carrying a briefcase with 5 cans of food to donate to the FamilyWorks food bank & resource center, in the quirky and completely Fremont-esque Briefcase Relay.  The runners in this competition for the coveted ‘Slug Cup,’ designed by local artist Mike Peck, must wear ‘business attire’ from the waist up – but in recent years the competitors has gotten increasingly elaborate in costuming.  Come see what they’ve selected for this year!

In addition to the runners, the costumes, and the beer garden, the Fremont Fun Run has several interesting booths set up by local vendors. Photo by K. Lindsay, Jun '12

At 7p, the certified 5K Fun Run will send a record number of registrants out on Fremont streets, while refreshments await at the Fremont Brewing Company beer garden in Solstice Plaza.  In addition to the adult beverages, the Plaza hosts an interesting selection of vendor and exhibitor booths for exploring before, after – and during – the races.

Full details on the Fremont Fun Run can be found on-line.  Come run, or shout on those who do!
