A Musical Respite at ‘Music In The Sculpture Garden’ This Weekend

At MITSG at History House on June 23rd, 2013 - Watch The Sky and Piper Stock Hill

This Sunday, June 23rd, from 2p – 4p, after all the hullabaloo of the solstice celebrations, History House of Greater Seattle will host another of its free open-air concerts called, ‘Music In The Sculpture Garden,’ produced by John Nordstrand.

In the covered courtyard of the local museum, the public can sit back and listen, out of the sun or rain, to some of the Puget Sound’s best acoustic musicians.  On Sunday, from 2p – 4p, the featured artists will be Watch The Sky and Piper Stock Hill

Singer-songwriters, Watch The Sky perform sea songs, music hall, Celtic, and original music on the bodhran, doumbek, guitar, whistle and percussion instruments.  According to their website, “We love to bring great old songs to life, and to bring new ones into our world.”

Also appearing will be Piper Stock Hill, the only Northwest band dedicated to performing new, old and original folk songs of Newfoundland.  The music, based mostly on traditional Celtic and English folk music, reflects the struggles and pleasures of the lives of the Newfoundland fishermen, whalers, loggers and sealers.  Piper Stock Hill features the considerable talents of guitarist Ron Dickson, bassist Larry Penoza, fiddler/accordion player Jan Strolle, and Tami Curtis on the bodhran, fiddle and whistle.

Come have a seat in the Sculpture Garden and enjoy the show!  Sponsored in part by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the ‘Music In The Sculpture Garden’ concert series provides a pleasant respite from the revelry of the Fremont Fair this weekend – plus, it’s free!
