Plenty going on this Friday, July 5th, at the Fremont Art Walk, from 6p – 9p. With the holiday weekend, expect smaller crowds and more opportunities to view and enjoy art all around the ‘hood.
Three of our most established venues have exciting works to show:
- At Portage Bay Goods, enjoy the sweet and colorful illustrations of Jill Labieniec. Help celebrate the art, and the Art Walk, with wine, snacks, fun times, and great gift shopping opportunities!
- Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar is excited to host Nick Gonzales. As Gonzales wrote, “…my fondness for comics, cartoons, science fiction and fantasy has grown significantly since I was a kid. Nerd culture is more mainstream than ever before…” His works take established characters and universes into new and informative settings.
- The 25 year old Frame-Up Studios will welcome extraordinary artist Amber Rothrock and her one-of-a-kind frames demonstrating a trailblazing design aesthetic. Also, while at Frame-Up, purchase a commemorative Fremont Fair poster – each purchase donates money to Solid Ground.
In addition, the July 5th Art Walk has a dozen more shops, restaurants, halls and bars showing paintings, photography, ceramics, mixed media and live music:
- The Fremont Health Club will show ‘A Splash of the Caribbean’, works from a company that supports artists from around the Caribbean region.
- Upstairs at Atlas Clothing, find artists Michael Heck and Erin Fox, as well as live music by Birdsnest, WMD, and RDC.
- Inside Fremont Jewelry Design, enjoy the acrylic paintings and prints of visual artist Bonnie Chance.
- Next door at Bellefleur Lingerie, witness a photo shoot done by professional photographer Cheryl Jones – shooting the lingerie and stylings of Bellefleur.
- Joining the Walk for the first time will be GiGi Retro Inspired Clothing, showing the works of Guy Tucker
- Inside the halls of the SPACE building, located behind Lenin, see works by artists Brendan McGarry (2nd floor,) NW Art Connection (3rd floor,) and Molly Donovan (4th floor.)
- At the newer Saturn Building, located across from the Fremont Rocket, see the offerings of Bill Matthews (1st & 2nd floors,) Sean McFadyen (3rd floor,) Noel Poage (4th floor,) and Lenard Yen (5th floor.)
- The Fremont Starbucks will show hand-cut stencil spray painted on canvas by Court Hoffman.
- The show, ‘Design Is In The Details’, at Makerhaus will celebrate the micro-level decisions that make designs different.
For those who missed the June First Friday Art Walk, Hub and Bespoke has held over the works of Shelley Engels, and the Vassili Center continues its display of fine art and pre-Columbian pottery. Also this month the evo TimesInfinity gallery has a new show still to be announced.
