On Saturday, August 3rd, at 3p, Fremocentrist.com invites everyone to an enjoyable – and educational – stroll along the Fremont waterfront and through a bit of the commercial core of the Center of the Universe, starting at History House of Greater Seattle.
As part of its ‘Fireside Chat’ series of live presentations on the history, culture and people of Fremont, in August attendees will take a walk while enjoying Seattle’s rare fair weather and hearing about the development of:
- our area of Lake Union, deliberately transformed into a useful part of the working waterfront
- public art, from ‘People Waiting…’ by Rich Beyer to ‘Dreamer Of World Peace’ by Kaivalya Torpy
- our commercial area over 150 years – from a few small storefronts, a drug store and hotel to a thriving, artistic magnet of activity and attention
Hosted by Fremont expert Kirby Lindsay, this one-hour walk-and-talk will set a leisurely pace starting and ending at History House (located at the corner of Troll Way and J.P. Patches Place.) At the conclusion, sprawl in the covered courtyard of History House while we snack on juice-and-cookies and hold an open discussion of Fremont-related topics.
(Unfortunately, due to a set of stairs, the walking route is not ADA compliant. High temperature weather will divert the walk into the air-conditioned comfort of History House.)
Please save the date and join in this entertaining and informative exploration of the past and present of Fremont. For more information on this series, contact 206/632-3170 or instigator@box2219.temp.domains
