Enjoy a one-night-only cabaret at West Of Lenin next Monday, August 5th, at 7:30p. ‘Seattle: B-Sides & Rarities’ promises to fill the ‘loud and obnoxious’ vacuum left by the absence of the Blue Angels at Seafair. Producers Jim Jewell, Paul Shipp and Joe Zavadill want to cap off a weekend of hydros, pirates and clowns with theater, music, poetry and stories that celebrate our beloved passive-aggressive, self-satisfied, faux-hippy, civic-development-stallin’, traffic nightmare-creatin’, built on its own ashes city!
The dark and bluesy ‘B-sides’ brings together new blood and favorite performers to expose (then inappropriately fondle,) the dark underbelly of Seattle, and its bizarre, mid-summer celebration of aquatic proximity. The show will feature:
- short plays by Jim Jewell, Dan Tarker, and Rod Tipton
- poetry by Paul Mullin
- musical madness from John McKenna
- storytelling by Jennifer Jasper
…and more! As Producer Jewell explained, “I like to describe ‘B-sides’ as a one-night, one-stop vaudeville tour. We are constantly recruiting new artists, and the artist line-up is always subject to change…at least until curtain.”
Supported by 14/48: The World’s Quickest Theater Festival, tickets for ‘Seattle: B-Sides & Rarities’ cost $15 on-line or $18 at the door, and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets. More information can be found on the Facebook events page.
