‘The 5th Of July’ Run Continues At West of Lenin

Theatre22Oct13_5thOfJulyTheatre22 launched their inaugural production of Landford Wilson’s ‘The 5th of July’ last week at West of Lenin.  The run of this classic American play only goes through October 26th, so get tickets now and plan to see it while you may.

Originally presented by New York’s famed Circle Repertory company, this play has been hailed as a major work by one of theater’s most important and celebrated writers.  Cue Magazine said of that production, “Few contemporary playwrights are as craftsman-like and humane, or as wise, as Landford Wilson.  There aren’t many plays to see that are as interesting and absorbing and feeling and funny as this.”

Directed by Julie Beckman, this poignant and comic drama is set in rural Missouri in 1977.  The story concerns the Talley family and their friends, and focuses on the disillusionment with America in the wake of an unpopular war.  This production features a large, talented cast, performing in Fremont’s popular black box theater, West of Lenin.

Tickets to ‘The 5th of July’ can be purchased for performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8p on Brown Paper Tickets.  A special performance on Tuesday, October 22nd, will be pay-what-you-can.  Shows have sold out on this limited run, so get your tickets now.
