This past September, District Fabric opened its doors in the former Bitters Co space.

District Fabric sells a diverse selection of carefully selected apparel fabrics, from silk & fine woolens to cottons & sparkly tulle, they can supply the inspirational fabrics perfect for a designer dress, or your next Halloween costume.

Owner Ashley Portilla has long served in the artistic communities of Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago as a costume designer.  After being thoroughly spoiled by the L.A. fabric district, she has brought some of that unique selection back to her native Pacific Northwest.

Facing the Lenin statue, the shop’s authentic feel is inspired by fabric districts around the world.

Every inch of District Fabric is packed with rolls and bolts of fabric. Most of the stock comes from markets in LA and New York, but the stock also includes textiles Portilla brought back from India.

Stop by and rummage through the piles of fabric to find your next inspiration or answer to a current project.

The store is currently open Monday through Saturday from 11a – 6pm at 513 N 36th St, in Suite A.
