The City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture will form two artist rosters – one of approximately 75 established artists and one of approximately 40 emerging artists – pre-qualified for future art projects at City utility facilities, in parks, in the street right-of-way and other locations. The rosters will help with selecting artists to develop permanent, free-standing or site-integrated artwork projects in a variety of sizes and complexities, and will replace any previous rosters.
Experienced professional artists will reside in the United States, and have successfully completed a minimum of two permanent or temporary, site-specific public art commissions with budgets of at least $15,000 per project.
Emerging artists will live in Oregon or Washington, be over 18-years old, be in the early stage of their career, have created a modest body of artistic work, and may or may not have specialized training in the art form. Applicants must show experience with a previous art exhibit, project or event that was open to the public, and be interested in creating art in public places and in working collaboratively in public settings. Students are not eligible.
The deadline for application for both the emerging and experienced artist rosters is 11p on Wednesday, November 20th. Information on the application, and assistance, for emerging artists can be found at https://www.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php Information for the experienced artist application can be found at https://www.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php
Also, more information on how to apply can be found at an optional, free Application Workshop, where staff will explain requirements and the steps to follow to fill out the CaFÉ application. The workshop in our area takes place on Wednesday, November 13th from 6p – 7:30p at the Phinney Neighborhood Center with parking available on-site and child care available with RSVP to 206/684-7372.
