Have a great idea for a community project? Looking for funding for your vision for Fremont? The City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods is hosting two community workshops for those interested in applying for Small & Simple Project Funds this June, for a matching award of up to $25,000.
The Small & Simple grant is one of the Seattle Matching Fund programs intended to encourage neighborhood groups and community organizations to initiate community-building projects. The goal of all Neighborhood Matching Fund projects is to build stronger and healthier neighborhoods through community involvement and engagement. The funds awarded are matched by a neighborhood’s contribution of volunteer labor, donated materials, in-kind professional services, or cash. The next application deadline for a Small & Simple grant is June 2nd at 5p. Another opportunity this year will be on October 6th. The application is web-based.
At workshops on May 10th & May 15th, attendees will learn the qualities of a good project and details about the application process and requirements. The workshops are open to all, and those interested can choose to attend either –
- Saturday, May 10th, from 10:30a – 12:30p, at the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club (4520 Martin Luther King Way)
- or, Thursday, May 15th, from 6p – 8p, at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute
RSVP to the workshops at 206/733-9916 or on-line using SurveyMonkey. Childcare and interpreters can be arranged for those who RSVP at least 72 hours in advance. For all those considering applying, call 206/233-0093 or e-mail NMFund@seattle.gov to discuss your project idea with a Neighborhood Matching Fund project manager.
