This Saturday, August 23rd, starting at 9p, enjoy live Americana music at Nectar Lounge. Three bands – Dead Winter Carpenters, Br’er Rabbit, and Home Sweet Home – will provide an evening of great, original music for listenin’ or dancin’, all for $10 in advance, or $12 at the door.
Originally from Lake Tahoe, California, Dead Winter Carpenters blends Americana roots-rock with straightforward ‘tell-it-like-it-is’ alternative. Their hard-hitting performances are as edgy as they are whimsical. With unbridled spirit, and an authentic approach to the art of songwriting, an evening with Dead Winter Carpenters epitomizes what live music performances are all about.
Opening for DWC are Br’er Rabbit, a band founded by local musicians – from Bellingham – who formed in New York City. Backyard folk music, seasoned by the edge, polish and fervor of big-city influences, has become a musical style Br’er Rabbit calls folk-stomp Americana. Also opening is local band Home Sweet Home, providing a mix of rock, soul, folk, and bluegrass. The themes Home Sweet Home explores in their music are the contrast between powerful emotions, and the songs contain thoughtful lyrics, strong rhythms, and high-energy musicianship.
